    NEW AVAILABLE ART PROGRAM

It seems to be a mix between SAI and photoshop, simplified. It even has a stabalizer that works even with the mouse.

Best of all, it’s free, and works for both Mac and Windows.

To give it a try, head right on down to http://firealpaca.com/

Reblogging for artsy people that follow me. Also a lovely name for a program.

Holy crap the pen tool is so smooth

For the followers who don’t yet know about this and want something to draw with!

    This is exceptional

How to make shrinky dink charms!!

    image

this is a bit of a long post, so I’m putting it under the cut

first of all, go to your local craft store and buy the shrinky dink refill sheets. you can get clear, opaque, or solid white

they come in packs of 20 sheets for $5-$6

(i’m going to be using the clear)

    step one

    image

draw your design on paper (doesn’t have to be lined, but w/e)

this is the design you will be using to create multiple charms so you don’t have to re-draw it differently each time and you get a consistent product!

    step two

    image

    trace over it with sharpies!

i wouldn’t recommend using oil based paint markers or acrylic paint, as they will come out weird in the oven

    step three

    image

get some small-grain sand paper and sand until it looks like this

    image

make sure you sand it really well!!!

    step four

    image

go back over it with sharpie

    step five

    image

    image

color!! do not use cheap-ass crayola colored pencils. the color won’t lay down correctly. i highly recommend using prismacolor colored pencils

i know that they can get quite expensive, but it’s worth it

    also, don’t use crayons

    just dont

    step six

    image

hole punch where you want the hole for the strap to be, and then cut out with some relatively sharp scissors

    step seven

    image

pre-heat your oven to 325 degrees fahrenheit (or the equivalent in your country i don’t feel like doing math), and bake for exactly three minutes, no more!! it will shrink down and look like the charm on the right when done~

    step eight

    image

on the side with the drawing, coat with a single thin coat of gloss mod podge and let completely dry!

    step nine

    image

after the charm is completely dry, put one of these little finding thingies on it

you can find these in the walmart jewelry section at $2 for 250 or something

    step ten

    image

    attach a cellphone strap

you can buy these on etsy in a wide variety of colors for very little money

i highly recommend getting the straps with the lobster clasps for easy attachment!

ta da!! you’ve successfully made shrinky dink charms!

    image

store in a plastic jewelry case, with them arranged so the side with the mod podge isn’t touching the charm next to it’s similar side (i.e front to back)

~congrats u made it through this long-ass tutorial high five~

If you’ve ever been stumped on what to draw, this is a fun little web application.

The webpage is filled with lots of drawing ideas that you can randomize - so you’ll never have the excuse that “you don’t know what to draw”.

The page also features a submit area, where you can submit your own ideas.

At the time of posting, there are only a few ideas - but I’m sure that will increase if this gets spread on tumblr.

  9. Tutorial: from paper to digital.

    kaiami:

Hey ya’ll! I’m not much of a tutorial person, but this was a technique that I learned from Syuzuki, one of my favorite artists back in the day, when I was 13. I memorized the technique and it’s been one of the most useful things I can do on photoshop. This was something that really helped me, and I hope that it will be useful for even some of you.

In this tutorial, I will be going step by step how I take something from my sketchbook and color it on photoshop.
